Basement, Ghent
The historic neogothic townhouse in Ghent has recently undergone a thorough restoration of its cellar. This project, carried out by the company Domus Arte from Evergem, breathes new life into this remarkable space while preserving the building's historical integrity.
The existing plasterwork of the cellar was carefully updated with Chausable, a base plaster made from natural hydraulic lime from Saint-Astier. This product is particularly suitable for historic buildings due to its breathable and durable properties. After applying Chausable, the entire surface was finished with RC Calcoliss 300, a fine, pure white lime plaster that provides a smooth and aesthetically pleasing finish. Thanks to this restoration, the cellar of the townhouse not only remains functional but also shines in its former glory.
