description

In Ronse, the repairs and repairs of the historic St. Hermes Basilica are in full swing. These activities are carried out by the experienced contractors Ruben Willaert and A. Vandendorpe, who are working together to restore the interior of this beautiful basilica to its former glory.

One of the most important aspects of the repairs is the complete re-plastering of the walls with the RC Sanisel salt buffering render. This special render is a vapour-proof and salt-buffering render that can prevent damage caused by hygroscopic salts in the substrate, which is essential for the durability and preservation of the wall structures. In addition, mortars based on Saint Astier's NHL 5 were used to rejoin and re-tile certain parts of the basilica. This natural hydraulic lime offers the right combination of strength and breathability, which is crucial for historic buildings such as St. Hermes Basilica.

Thanks to the expertise of Ruben Willaert and A. Vandendorpe and the use of high-quality materials, Saint Hermes Basilica is being restored with care and precision. This project ensures that the basilica can remain an important cultural and historical monument for many years to come.
