RC ASTIVO

Coloured natural lime (NHL 3.5) for joints

General

RC ASTIVO is a hydraulically coloured (NHL 3.5) lime for preparing a grout in accordance with ENV 459-1. Lime mortars for lime joints are generally softer and more porous compared to mixtures with cement, allowing moisture to evaporate more freely from the joints. This can help lower the moisture level in the wall and reduce the build-up of soluble salts in the stone surface, reducing possible damage or 'crumbling' of the masonry. Lime joints made from traditional masonry with lime mortar based on lime filler or natural hydraulic lime (NHL) offer many advantages over cement-based mortars.

Elasticity/deformability

Compared to a bastard or cement mortar, RC ASTIVO is much more elastic and malleable. This is an essential factor, as it minimizes shrinkage and cracks and allows small movements to be absorbed.

Permeability and isolation

RC ASTIVO gives the building excellent vapor permeability, which prevents the formation of condensation, fungi and damp spots. In addition, the insulation value is improving, in short, healthier living.

Mechanical strength

The mechanical characteristics are built up progressively: NHL 3.5 lime reacts with water and then hardens under the influence of the air (carbonation). Settlements in the building are better absorbed. By the way, because of the free lime that carbonizes over a long period of time, a mortar has a self-healing property.
