Clyte Capelle with house in Bellegem
Located on Kreupelstraat in Bellegem, the Clyte Capelle is believed to be the oldest chapel in the village, adjoined by a modest workers' house. This cherished heritage site recently underwent a complete facade renovation. The project was led by architect Alex Demeyere from Kortrijk and contractor Construnique from Herentals, who deliberately chose sustainable, breathable materials of high quality.
To restore the mortar joints, NHL 3.5 from Saint-Astier was used—a natural hydraulic lime renowned for its excellent breathability and durability. The facade of both the chapel and the house was then treated with RC Kalei, a mineral-based limewash that provides a protective and authentic finish. At the base of the building, a plinth was applied using RC Sanisel, a salt-buffering lime plaster designed to protect against rising damp. Finally, the house received a finishing layer of RC Siloxcoat, a water-repellent yet breathable coating that ensures long-term weather protection.
