Rodenbach-Mergaert Castle Wine Cellar

The wine cellar of Rodenbach Castle in Roeselare has recently undergone a complete renovation, carried out by the experts of Loccufier Rony from Aartrijke. This unique space, an integral part of the historic estate, was restored with great respect for its heritage.

Both the walls of the cellar and the wine niches were finished with the cement-free RC Kalei mortar. This mortar, based on natural hydraulic lime (NHL), provides a breathable and long-lasting finish, preserving the cellar’s authentic appearance while enhancing its resistance to moisture.

Thanks to this carefully executed restoration, the wine cellar remains a valuable and functional space within the castle. Its authentic character is preserved, contributing to the conservation of this remarkable heritage site.
